It’s Mud Season!

While it is best to find paved or gravel trail alternatives, or seek lower elevation areas which dry out faster, if you find yourself on a muddy trail this season, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Practice Patience - There are lots of paved or gravel alternatives, and you can seek lower elevation areas which dry out faster.

Get Muddy – Go straight through the mud on the trail. Your shoes will dry!

Avoid Going Around – by going around large patches of mud you create new trails, trample new growth, and contribute to erosion.

Have a Plan B – If you are on a trail with large patches of mud, be prepared to turn around and find another trail.

Leave No Trace – Always pick up poop. It’s hard to tell the difference between mud and poop.

Using trails in mud season can create ruts and damage trails. Repairs are costly to repair, and some trails may not get repaired which means they are damaged for the rest of the season.

Please be kind to our trails and they will take care of you the rest of the season.
